Healthy Eating

Healthy eating
Why do I have to eat my broccoli? Why do I have to take milk with my lunch? You've probably heard these questions on daily basis.
Learners are curious human beings, and teaching them about nutrition can explain why it is important to eat healthy meals. Explaining about My Plate and the benefits of each food group can help promote healthy eating from a young age. Moreover, nutrition-related problems among school-age learners nowadays have become potentially serious.
In order to prevent eating unhealthy food and snacks, a dietitian visited our grade 3 learners to ensure that their nutritional intake meets their daily requirements and to help them develop correct eating habits. During the visit, learners were guided to make appropriate dietary choices and sustain healthy lifestyles. They did activities that promote an increased knowledge of nutrition and expanded healthy options both at home and at school. For example, they prepared Zaatar crepe and used lebneh as a topping. They mixed various fruits to make smoothie and discussed its nutritional value. By encouraging our learners to engage in healthy behaviors, the stage is being set for them to have better health outcomes later in life.
