Flu Awareness Campaign

Flu Awareness Campaign
Flu is a contagious respiratory illness caused by influenza viruses that infect the nose, throat, and sometimes the lungs. It is usually mild and most people recover quickly. However, this contagious respiratory illness may occasionally cause severe disease. Children younger than 5 years of age, especially those younger than 2 years old, are at high risk of serious flu-related complications. Good personal hygiene, starting with washing hands, and respiratory etiquette are essential to reduce the risk of getting sick or spreading germs to others. Using soap and water or hand sanitizers will keep hands germ-free and will help protect bodies against influenza.
In this perspective, the school nurse organized a flu awareness campaign to SMOC learners that aims to help them get a thorough idea about flu and its prevention tips. She used different communication tools like singing songs and playing games. The nurse started by explaining the symptoms of flu and how it can be easily spread. She illustrated that personal contact like handshakes or touching contaminated surfaces can cause germs to accumulate on their hands. By touching their eyes, nose, and mouth, they can infect themselves. She also explained that handwashing is the best way to prevent flu and other infectious diseases that are transmitted by hand to mouth or hand to nose and eye contact.
