Rotation & Revolution
Learning about the Solar System allowed grade 3 learners to explore the rotation and revolution of our planet Earth. Throughout different hands-on activity, role-playing and videos, learners discovered the 2 movements of the Earth. They had the chance to visualize and internalize how the Earth spins on its axis every 24 hours in a counterclockwise direction, and similarly how it turns around the sun every 365 days. They worked in groups and got engaged in kinesthetic learning by following instructions and taking turns. Moreover, learners saw how the earth rotates around itself creating day and night, and how it revolves around the sun in an oval pathway creating the different seasons. This activity peaked the learners’ interest, allowed them to understand why different countries have day and night at different times, and answered some of their big questions.
