A Fun Day in Nature

Posted on: 20-06-2017

End year outing
"There's no way that we can help children to learn, love and preserve this planet, if we don't give them direct experiences with the miracles and blessings of nature." Anita Olds.

All around us, we see it every day, but hardly observe it. We hear it, but never listen to its sweet calls. We feel it everywhere, but how many times have we really experienced it? Ever since the dawn of time, we were gifted with its presence. Sadly, we never understood its worth, till our very own actions started questioning its existence. What is it? Nature! How many times a day do we come across places that have trees and how many times do we notice them and relish their serenity? In the midst of our busy and hectic lives, we fail to think about anything other than duties and priorities. If we spent some of this time tending gardens or walking in the park, we’d find it way more relaxing, if not entertaining, than anything else. This is why outings were planned for Grade 2 learners to La Boheme and Grade 3 learners to Arnaoon to spend a whole day in nature.
As they arrived to the locations, a heartwarming welcome was waiting for them. They sang joyful songs, answered to interesting questions and helped their teachers guess riddles. Next, learners were divided into several groups and engaged in various games and activities such as wall climbing, archery and zip line, tug rope, water games, and sports games and also competed against each other in groups in nature. After finishing all the games and activities, learners had a mouthwatering lunch in the food court and took a group photo with their beloved teachers and peers.
Learners built courage through competing in challenging games and activities. They explored nature, breathed fresh air and said 'good bye' to a wonderful year and welcomed the summer vacation with a big joy and wide smile.
